Small white cyst-like bumps around the eyes are usually milia rather than sebaceous cysts and are treated separately.

The same minor-surgery techniques are also used to remove other benign skin growths, such as moles and skin tags.

Cyst removal may be recommended for several reasons, as removing a cyst can prevent it from growing larger and reduce the risk of complications such as infection or rupture. Thanks to local anaesthesia, the pain during the procedure is minimal. Post-surgery, patients may experience mild discomfort, which is typically manageable with prescribed pain relievers.

Recovery time varies but is generally short. Most patients can resume their normal activities within a few days. Complete healing, including the fading of surgical scars, might take a few weeks.

While surgical removal drastically reduces the chance of recurrence, it is not a 100% guarantee. The recurrence depends on the cyst type and the completeness of the removal. Regular follow-up and proper skin care can minimise this risk.
